This training is designed for educators who wish to build a deeper understanding of the needs of children and families affected by poverty.  Poverty is not merely a financial situation, but also includes emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical aspects.  We will examine the critical role that supports systems, resources, relationships, and role models play as intervening factors.  The key beliefs this training will work from are: poverty is relative, poverty is not exclusive to any group of people, socio-economic status is a continuum and not a clear-cut distinction, and there is a difference between generational and situation poverty.  Participants will explore and practice research-based strategies to assist children affected by poverty.

This training is FREE. Upon completion of the workshop each participant will receive 6.5 PD hours.  Breakfast and Lunch will be provided each day.
