In this training, participants will engage in a series of three content and pedagogy-specific activities. First, we’ll explore Three-Act Math Tasks; a story-telling pedagogical strategy that elicits student curiosity, collaboration, and questioning while redefining the term “real-world context” and the role that students play in the learning process. Next, participants will investigate geometric transformations by completing several critical thinking challenges using common classroom manipulatives. Finally, in an integrated STEM activity, we will use a hands-on approach to examining the science behind crop rotation systems originally implemented during the Medieval Period. This activity requires students to mathematically evaluate the efficiency of a crop rotation system, strategically complete an integers-based crop puzzle, and evaluate crop yield and profit through data analysis. Participants will receive all resources, lessons and select materials for each activity.

The cost of this training is $75/person.  Each participant will receive 5.5 PD hours upon completion of the training.
