Part 2: Best Strategies to Use When Supporting English Learners

The one day training  includes an introduction of the research behind the strategies, and an interactive approach to learning about the best practice strategies the D.A.R. framework offers. 

Agenda:
AM - The day begins with: a brief overview of the research and theory, set a personal goal, read and article and being working on some of the focus and motivation strategies. 

PM - Answer questions, and begin working through Input Strategies, Guided Oral Practice, and Reading and Writing. 

Wrap up  by making the information uses to each teacher by with giving the teacher codes to access many GLAD units, and resources. We will also talk about how DAR is usable in 30 mins or less each day, etc.. (ESL class or example), share real life examples of how it works in different settings and subjects.  If time..being planning a Cognitive Content Dictionary as a group/grade or class. 

D.A.R is adapted from Project G.L.A.D.

Guided Language Acquisition Design is a research-based  language learning model for ALL CHILDREN, accelerating literacy across the curriculum through engaging strategies that scaffold the language, and scaffold the learning.

The cost to attend this training is $75/person and lunch will be provided. Each participant will receive 5.5 PD hours upon completion of the training.
