Job Title: Program Coordinator Career Opportunity

Responsibilities: To provide guidance and support to special education programs resulting in improved achievement for special education students within the region. Performance responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Monitors all special education programs (monitor numbers, review class listings, service delivery, etc.) Provides technical support to all building administrators and staff Develops/implements/assists with professional development programs Collaborates with special and general education staff and parents regarding student progress, behavioral and academic intervention, functional analysis, behavior plans, referral process, IEP issues Assists in identification, diagnosis and placement of students with disabilities and placement of students with disabilities into appropriate educational programs in the least restrictive environment Facilitate transition services (early intervention and secondary level) for special education students and the families and promotes coordination of services with outside agencies Monitors correct completion of IEPs, ensuring that the IEPs are linked to the IL Learning Standards and that FAPE is provided in the least restrictive environment. (Coordinates and participates in IEP meetings and annual reviews as needed and facilitates the compilation of documentation for student records Demonstrates knowledge of best practices and research-based instructional and behavioral strategies and articulates such knowledge to staff so that it positively affects implementation in the classroom Demonstrates strong personal skills, responsive to the interest and needs of parents, students, staff, and member school districts Effectively communicates with parents, staff, and administrators, orally and in writing Pursues professional growth and development; keeps current with literature, research findings, and improved techniques, shares related information with professional colleagues Facilitates active parent involvement in the IEP process an delivery of services Assists in developing continuity of comprehensive programs and services Demonstrates leadership skills in working collaboratively as a member of the administrative team in promoting the mission and goals of the organization, in guiding the delivery of services and in taking initiative Complete duties assigned by the Director or Assistant Director Employees in this position must be able to (a) sit for extended periods of time, (b) type/enter data into computer, (c) stand, walk, bend over, reach, push/pull up to 10 lbs., and lift/carry up to 25 lbs EXPECTATIONS: Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students Communicates effectively with staff, parents and students Displays fairness, patience, self-control, and impartiality for all students and staff Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with others Engages in professional development activities Performs and completes duties within legally mandated timelines Adheres to designated work schedule Follows policies and procedures of Mid-State Special Education Cooperative and the district(s)/ building(s) to which the teacher is assigned
Qualifications: Licensed as per Illinois State Board of Education requirements: Master's degree and Professional Educator License with the General Supervisory, General Administrative, Director of Special Education, Principal or Superintendent endorsement, or Supervisory endorsements. Minimum of five years of experience in the field of special education. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time management skills. Possesses a valid driver's license and maintains automotive insurance coverage as required by IL law.
