Welcome to Learning Express!
What the Learning Express Program offers for families with children birth to three:
Learning Express is a free, voluntary, year-round program provided by Regional Office of Education #3 and funded by the Early Childhood Prevention Initiative Grant of the Illinois State Board of Education. The Learning Express is a parent education program for families in the ROE #3 region with children prenatal to age three. Our program is grounded in the belief that parents are their children’s first teacher and their home is a child's first classroom.
Learning Express follows the Parents as Teachers curriculum which is designed to meet four primary goals:
- Increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve parent practices
- Provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues
- Prevent child abuse and neglect
- Increase children's school readiness and success
Enrolled families will receive weekly home visits with a PAT certified parent educator. The parent educator will work with you and your child in their natural environment to develop skills that will prepare for school. Home visits are also a time for the parent educator to work with you in setting goals and helping to connect your family to local resources.
Learning Express group connections are a great opportunity to join other parents and participate in parent/child interactions. These meetings are held in 4 different counties to allow you to have the opportunity to attend a meeting near you. All enrolled families are encouraged to attend.
