Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world.
For, indeed, that's all who ever have. --Margaret Mead.
A joint meeting of the Regional Board of School Trustees of Bond, Christian, Effingham, Fayette, and Montgomery Counties, Illinois s will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the Regional Office of Education #3 Professional Development Center located at 1500 W. Jefferson Street in Vandalia, IL.
The meeting agenda (PDF) is posted for public review.
Signed into law on August 31, 2017, Public Act 100-0465, also known as the Evidence-Based Funding for Student Success Act, made sweeping changes to education funding in Illinois. In making changes to state financial support to schools, the Act also repealed Section 18-8.05 of the School Code, which required an instructional day to be a minimum of five hours. As such, there is no current statutory minimum number of hours or minutes that constitutes an instructional day. This change provides districts with maximum flexibility to ensure that student needs determine the method and timelines of instructional days rather than the needs of regulatory and compliance systems.
The definition of an Instructional Day is explained in this memo from ISBE: https://www.isbe.net/Documents/Instructional-Day-Memorandum.pdf

TeachIllinois is a brand new, 100% online, center for educator professional development. Educators can either self-register, or districts can bulk register their staffs. Upon completion of the material, learners will complete the ISBE Seminar Evaluation Form, after which, the official ISBE Evidence of Completion form will be made available. All e-learning courses are currently free, although in the near future TeachIllinois will start charging a nominal, per-PD-hour fee. New content is added every month, and we welcome suggestions for future courses. Our e-learning platform is robust enough that a PD provider (such as a District) could subscribe and create their own 'channel'.
The Regional Office of Education #3 serving Bond, Christian, Effingham, Fayette and Montgomery Counties is currently offered on the first and third Fridays of the month in our Hillsboro office as well as on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in our Taylorville office.
